IT’S TIME TO FIX OUR UPSIDE-DOWN TAX CODE.

We’re fighting for a Washington where all of our communities can thrive. For too long, the wealthy few have rigged the system for their own financial gain. Working families are paying far more than our share of state taxes. When the wealthy pay what they owe, our Washington State economy can support all of us. Students, families, workers, small businesses, and more will have what we need! We believe that together, we can build a Washington that works for everyone.

TELL YOUR LAWMAKERS: REJECT I-2109

The super-rich want a tax cut at our expense. We won’t let them win.

Conservative mega-donors sent I-2109 to the legislature, hoping lawmakers would repeal the capital gains tax – taking more than $5 billion from child care and education over the next 6 years.

We must tell lawmakers to NOT line the pockets of the super-rich at our expense. Send a letter to your legislators now telling them to REJECT I-2109!

This initiative is bankrolled by a mega-millionaire trying to buy himself a tax break – by taking $900 million a year from students, child care providers, schools, and more. We can’t let that happen.

Washingtonians support the capital gains tax to fund education. The capital gains tax is just on Wall Street stock profits larger than $250,000. Only 4,000 people paid the tax last year, but that sent nearly $900 million to expand childcare, provide more early learning, and repair our schools.

Poll after poll shows that voters in Washington want the super-rich to pay what they owe our communities.

Tell your legislators to REJECT I-2109 and send it to the ballot where voters can prove that we support taxing mega-wealthy. We know that if this initiative makes it to November’s ballot, Washington voters will do the right thing and keep billions for education through the capital gains tax.

WE’RE FIGHTING FOR A FAIR AND JUST TAX CODE – SO ALL WASHINGTONIANS CAN THRIVE.

WHEN THE WEALTHY PAY WHAT THEY OWE, WE’LL HAVE THE TOOLS WE NEED.

Instead of supporting a Washington state economy that works for everyone, the wealthy few continue to try to rig the system for their own gain. But we know that when we come together, we can build a Washington that works for all of us.

Washington’s mega millionaires and billionaires must pay their share, just like the rest of us already do. Washington’s working families need reliable childcare. Our students need fully funded schools. Our communities need access to reliable healthcare.

We advocate for tax justice so our Washington state economy can grow – with more jobs, fair wages, fully-funded community services, and all the tools we need to thrive.

A WASHINGTON STATE ECONOMY THAT WORKS FOR ALL OF US

CHALLENGING ECONOMIC INEQUALITY

Right now, our Washington State economy only works for the wealthy. Our tax code feeds systems of inequality. Low- and middle-income families – most of us – pay up to 18% of our incomes in state and local taxes. The wealthy pay only 3%.

Most of us work hard for our families. But our tax code makes it much harder to save money, build wealth, and pass it down to our children.

We believe that the best way to challenge economic inequality in Washington is to fix our upside-down tax code and make the wealthy pay their share in taxes.

FIGHTING FOR
TAX JUSTICE

We can’t move toward economic equality without a fair and just tax code. That’s why we’re committed to fighting for tax justice!

When the wealthy pay what they owe, we will be able to build the futures our families and communities deserve.

We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken toward fixing our broken tax code – like the capital gains tax – which has brought in millions for childcare and school funding.

At the same time, our fight isn’t over yet. Our families and communities deserve an economy that works for everyone – and a tax code that’s fair and just.

BUILDING THRIVING COMMUNITIES

Imagine a Washington where every working family can access childcare. Where we have enough school funding to truly support our students and teachers. Where our communities have accessible healthcare, reliable public transportation, and affordable housing, and good jobs so we can care for our families.

We believe that when we all come together, including the wealthy paying their share, our Washington State economy will grow and thrive. Students across the state will have safe and supportive places to learn. Families will have roofs over their heads. Communities will have access to healthcare. We’ll be able to build thriving communities – because we’ll have all the tools we need.
